STUDIO PORTRAIT SESSION

A studio portrait session offers a unique experience, focusing on controlled lighting and uncomplicated backdrops to create intentional and distinct images. Whether you envision a polished, businesslike image or one that is more dramatic and artistic, the studio environment allows for precise control over every detail, ensuring your specific vision. YOUR SESSION EXPERIENCE

We'll begin the session by reviewing the clothing you've brought. This is where we discuss what will photograph best for your desired outcome, considering factors like color, texture, and fit. Our goal is to select outfits that enhance your features and align with the mood we're aiming to achieve.

The shooting itself is a thoughtful progression. We'll start slow, allowing you to get comfortable in front of the camera, and gradually build upon poses and expressions. This iterative approach ensures we capture a diverse set of images while refining each shot.

Throughout the session, we'll take time to review images. This is a crucial step where we assess what's working well and identify any areas for adjustment. This process will also provide you the opportunity (as well as responsibility) to let me know if there is anything you personally feel we missed or could be improved upon. This way if there are any issues we can be certain they are addressed and corrected in the course of the session.

IMAGE REVIEW AND DELIVERY

At the conclusion of our shoot, we'll review the best images and make final selections. With a focus on achieving a clean and natural look, these chosen images will receive detailed retouching. This generally includes: skin smoothing and evening, color correction and grading, minimizing stray hairs, subtle reduction of clothing wrinkles, and overall image refinement.

You can expect to receive a link to download your high-resolution, retouched images within one week of your session.

up to 90 minute session

5 retouched digital images

If you feel that you may need more time to get more shots or looks, you may add an additional hour of time for ¥7,000.  If you are in need of more than 5 images, you may purchase additional images for ¥3,000 each. Final retouched images are digitally delivered in a high resolution and web resolution JPEG format. Unretouched images are not included in final deliverables. A non-refundable ¥20,000 deposit is required to reserve your session. (Why the deposit?) The remainder of your payment is due at the time of your session.

LOCATION PORTRAIT SESSION

Beyond the studio walls, a location portrait session offers a unique opportunity to capture images in a setting that resonates with you. Whether it's the vibrant energy of urban cityscapes, the comfort of your home or office, the serene beauty of the great outdoors, or virtually any other place that inspires you, we'll find the perfect backdrop for your images. YOUR SESSION EXPERIENCE

Your location session is designed to be both collaborative and comfortable. We typically approach these sessions in one of two ways:

  • Static Setting: We'll focus on a single, compelling location, exploring multiple "looks" and angles to maximize the potential of that specific environment.

  • Dynamic Exploration: We'll move through one or more general areas, discovering various discreet settings as we go, offering a wider range of backdrops and moods.

No matter the approach, we'll always begin by reviewing any wardrobe selections you brought along. This is a great opportunity to discuss what will photograph best and how different outfits can convey different aspects of your personality or brand. From there, we'll ease into the shooting process, starting slow and building momentum step-by-step to ensure you feel relaxed and confident, resulting in a cohesive set of images.

IMAGE REVIEW AND DELIVERY

Depending on the location and technical feasibility, we may be able to tether and review images directly on a computer as we shoot. This allows for immediate feedback and adjustments, ensuring we're capturing exactly what you envision. In situations where this isn't possible, we'll sit down immediately after the session to collaboratively select your favorite images from the entire shoot.

Price includes travel for location sessions within most wards of Tokyo. If you are located beyond the central wards, please get in touch for a travel quote to your area. Certain locations may require an additional fee due to permits or special permissions. At some point you will need to update your look, expand your portfolio, or simply try something new. When that time comes, I’m here to help. If you have done a portrait session with me once before, then you will be able to take advantage of my returning client discount. All returning portrait clients can receive ¥5,000 off a studio or location portrait session.

BRING A FRIEND

You’re probably not the only one who could use some new portraits. If a friend, co-worker, family member, acquaintance, or anyone else you may know schedules a portrait session consecutively with yours, you will both receive ¥3,000 off your session price.
